Workbench: Mauridian Missile Cruisers

Long-time followers of this blog might remember that I bought some Val’Neveg missile cruisers from Ravenstar Studios back in October of 2013. Here’s the picture I took for that post:

Well, I finally got around to painting them. If that seems like a long time to wait, consider that they displaced some Orc ships from Battlefleet Gothic. I was going to paint them, but changed my mind when I decided that I needed to write an Ascension battle report instead. I was missing three matched missile cruisers, and these were sitting in my “unpainted” box.

Port Strike: Eldar Corsairs v. Mauridian Expeditionary Fleet

The Area of Operations.

The Area of Operations.

Today’s battle recounts yet another Eldar Corsair port strike. (You think that’s what Eldar do?) The location is Neptune (the big blue gas giant), and one of its moons is being played by Encedalus. The Octan Station is orbiting Encedalus, and the Mauridians sortie in defense. As usual, click on the pictures for higher resolution.

Port Strike: Kharadorn Royal Navy v. Chaos

An Octan Station, orbiting Mars.

An Octan Station, orbiting Mars.

The Second Coalition War continues, as the Kharadorn Royal Navy attacks the Octan Station orbiting Mars. Defending against (fictional) Kate’s attack is (fictional) Camille and her Chaos fleet. As usual, click on the thumbnails for more detailed pictures. (The quality this time is a little worse than previously seen, as I’m working with a new space, and had to retouch pretty much every picture I took.)

In today’s installment of the Jump War playtest reports, the Eldar Corsairs strike at another port, this time an Octan station orbiting Titan. The station will be defended by elements of the Terran Republic Navy. As usual, click on the pictures to see high-resolution versions.

Those of you who’ve roamed the site know that I once posted a list of space stations available on Shapeways. Shapeways, for those of you who don’t know, is a print-on-demand 3-d printing service. The ship above is the Belter Trading Station, by Irrational Designs, which showed up on my doorstep yesterday.

Fleet Engagement: Kharadorn v. TRN

The next in our campaign playtest series is a Fleet Engagement between the Kharadorn and the Terran Republic Navy, fictionally led by Kate and Terry, respectively. Unlike the fleet engagement between Camille and Zed, this one takes place around an unpopulated gas giant (Njirana) with three moons.

Kate and Terry roll fleet initiative to see what kind of fleet engagement it is. Terry wins the roll, so (because she’s the defender in this case) the engagement is a set-piece.

Kate sets up on one side of Njirana:

Set-up: the Kharadorn deploy.
